As part of Chartwell’s ongoing educational outreach program, we recently hosted a group of students from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management investment banking career trek program. The students met with our team in Minneapolis and learned more about Chartwell and career options in corporate finance.

Organized by the Undergraduate Business Career Center, the consulting and investment banking career treks offer students the opportunity to visit leading companies in the world of finance, network with distinguished alumni, and explore career opportunities. As many trek participants are undecided about their career path, these excursions provide the opportunity to learn more about investment banking careers and see what it is like to work in finance through educational sessions at multiple firms throughout an entire day. Each session typically consists of a small panel discussion and time for Q&A. The treks also provide students with a real-world networking opportunity by exposing them to other students, corporate recruiters, professionals, and alumni.
Managing Director Ted Margarit kicked off the day in our Minneapolis headquarters with an introduction to Chartwell, providing an overview of our 20+ year history and the services we provide. HR Director Diane Riley then outlined the typical career progression of an analyst at Chartwell and emphasized the importance of soft skills for a career in finance. To conclude, a mix of junior and senior Chartwell professionals participated in a Q&A networking session, sharing their career experience and advice with the students.
This is the fifth year Chartwell has participated in Carlson’s educational outreach program! We are proud to support the career development of the next generation of professionals and honored to have the opportunity to market our firm to the best undergraduate talent in Minneapolis for future employment.
