This summer, Chartwell marked a major milestone with an unforgettable retreat to Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Colorado. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, our team enjoyed a variety of outdoor adventures, from hiking and horseback riding to fly fishing and zip lining. Evenings were filled with great food, line dancing, and plenty of laughter.
During the retreat, we came together for a spirited Pioneer Challenge, testing both skill and teamwork across four exciting activities: archery, mine field, hatchet throwing, and laser biathlon. To make the challenge even more meaningful, each team competed on behalf of a charity:
- Pink & Red Teams – Girls on the Run is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
- Black & Purple Teams – Pinky Swear Foundation has a mission to help kids with cancer and their families with financial support to help lift the burden of housing, food, and transportation costs.
- Green & Blue Teams – Reading Partners provides proven, individualized reading support to put elementary students on a path toward reading at grade level by fourth grade.
- Yellow & Orange Teams – Family Promise prevents and ends homelessness for families with children and helps them achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
The energy was high as teams navigated the mine field with precision, aimed true at the archery and hatchet throwing stations, and gave their all in the laser biathlon. Friendly rivalries fueled the competition, but the true win was seeing our company come together in support of such impactful organizations.
In the end, the Pioneer Challenge wasn’t just about who scored the most points, it was about teamwork, camaraderie, and giving back. Every charity walked away a winner, thanks to the support of Chartwell’s Enrichment Committee.

As we reflect on the past three decades, we’re proud of the relationships we’ve built with our colleagues, our clients, and the communities we serve. Here’s to the next 30 years of success together.
