Collin is a leader in Chartwell’s valuation and transaction opinions practice, focusing primarily on employee stock ownership plans. He joined the firm in 2012 and is experienced in providing independent financial advisory services to ESOP trustees and other corporate fiduciaries. Collin is passionate about employee ownership and partnering with boards of directors, management teams, and other transaction counterparties. Throughout his career, Collin has worked within a diverse array of industries and has extensive experience valuing general and specialty construction contractors and manufacturers.
Collin is passionate about mentoring the next generation of finance professionals. He co-leads Chartwell’s on-campus recruiting and new analyst training and development programs. Collin is a student mentor for the University of St. Thomas Aristotle Fund, a student-run investment fund.

John is a leader of the firm’s valuation and transaction opinions team. He conducts valuations in connection with business succession, ESOPs, estate and gift tax matters, marital dissolutions, purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment studies, and mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
John is instrumental in providing financial advisory services in connection with the implementation of ESOPs. He also represents buyers and sellers of middle market companies, and has negotiated and structured complex recapitalizations, leveraged and management buyouts, corporate acquisitions, and family business transfers, to include the placement of senior and subordinated debt.

John is an active member of The ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO). He has been a featured speaker at national conferences held by these organizations on business succession and valuation issues. John also frequently speaks to employee and professional groups, boards of directors, and ESOP trustees.
John is designated as an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in Business Valuation by the American Society of Appraisers. He is a Master Certified Business Appraiser (MCBA) as well as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) as granted by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA).
Professional Experience
Prior to Chartwell, John was President of Atlantic Management Company. John has held roles with McLaughlin Research Corporation and the United States Air Force Electronic Security Command, where he was a military intelligence analyst and served in the United States, Japan, and Greece.
Matt leads Chartwell’s valuation practice. He has provided financial advisory services to privately-held companies for over 25 years for a wide variety of purposes. In addition to providing valuation services for corporate planning, financial reporting, gift and estate planning, and tax planning, Matt is an expert on valuation issues related to employee stock ownership plans and ESOP sustainability. He advises clients on a wide variety of corporate finance, valuation, tax, and fairness issues for ESOPs, mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, and general corporate related purposes. His valuation opinions have withstood scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor.
