Matt is a leader in Chartwell’s consulting practice, where he advises clients on executive compensation matters. He works with business owners, boards of directors and management teams to align business, talent, and compensation strategies, with a special focus on equity and long-term incentive plan design. Matt has unique experience advising clients on market pay competitiveness through compensation benchmarking studies and peer group development, designing short- and long-term incentive plans, conducting public company readiness assessments and M&A transaction due diligence, and providing compensation and benefits tax technical support (e.g. IRC Sections 409A, 162, 280G).

Matt is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in South Carolina and North Carolina. He also holds the Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) designation from WorldatWork. Matt is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA), the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP), and WorldatWork Total Rewards Association.

Prior to Chartwell, Matt was a Manager at Grant Thornton in its compensation consulting practice, where he served as strategic advisor to management and boards of directors of public, private, and complex tax-exempt organizations across an array of industries.
Lucas is a member of Chartwell’s consulting practice and is experienced in advising companies on a wide range of topics including strategic alternatives, employee stock ownership plans, ESOP transactions, executive compensation, and strategies for long-term sustainability. He works with business owners, management teams, and boards of directors at ESOP companies to provide a holistic perspective of a company’s financial position and future capital claims.

Lucas is an active member of the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO), where he regularly attends conferences focused on employee ownership.
Marissa is a member of Chartwell’s consulting team and is experienced in working with employee-owned companies on a wide range of topics including strategic alternatives, ESOP transactions, executive compensation, and strategies for long-term sustainability. She works with business owners, management teams, and boards of directors to provide a holistic perspective of a company’s financial position and future capital claims.

Professional Experience
Prior to Chartwell, Marissa was a senior credit analyst at CIBC where she underwrote senior credit facilities for middle-market companies and managed client relationships. Marissa also has experience in ESOP trustee and valuation services.
